What is Panopto (VStream)?
VStream is Victoria's audio, video and screen capture recording and streaming service. The service uses a software platform called Panopto, which allows academics to capture content, record lectures, seminars, labs or any other type of video or audio content. Links to the recordings are made available to students via Blackboard anytime and anywhere they want to learn.

The recordings are viewed via a web browser on a laptop or desktop computer. Content is also be optimised to be streamed via mobile devices such as tablets and phones using the Panopto app.

As a student, your lecturer may give you access that allows you to create video or audio content using Panopto for an assessment.

In Vstream (Panopto), you can download the lecture video as a 'podcast'. Visit the Panopto support site for the steps on downloading the podcast.
Will the closed captions also download when I download the video?
Yes, closed captions will be downloaded when you download your lecture video, provided your lecturer has enabled captions. Check with your lecturer in this regard.

Can other students see my video after I have recorded it using Panopto?
You can only see your own recording. By default, you will not be able to view the recordings of other students. However, your lecturer can choose to change this setting to enable students to view other students' work. If you are unsure, please contact your lecturer for further information.
How do I edit my video in Panopto?
You can find step by step written instructions on how to edit your video in the Panopto Support Centre. You can also watch the video below on how to edit your video.
How do I upload a video to Panopto that I created using a third party video recording application?
How do I submit my video assignment?
Your instructor may want you to submit a link to your video as a Blackboard assignment. This will enable your instructor to identify your work easily and assign you a grade. If your lecturer has set up an assignment in Blackboard there will be a second step to the submission process where you submit a link to your video. If your lecturer wants you to do this, they will provide instructions via Blackboard.
How do I rename my video?
When you create your own video you can rename it. Hover your mouse over the video and click on the 'Settings' icon as shown below:
