VStream software
The VStream (or Victoria Streaming) service is run using software called Panopto. It is a video management, streaming and recording system which is connected into our Learning Management systems.
Types of software.
There are four types of Panopto Software which we use as part of our license:
1. The Remote Recorder - this software is loaded onto all teaching space machines across all our campuses. It allows you to record your teaching session. The recordings can be scheduled to start and stop automatically, or you can start a recording 'ad-hoc' on entering the room and manually stop it at any point. The remote recorder is by default in most rooms set up to record the audio from microphones and the screen capture. Only some rooms have a video camera also set up to record.
2. The Desktop Application - this software can be downloaded onto any computer (PC or Mac - as there are versions available for both) including work networked desktop computers, work personal computers (e.g. laptops) or any computer at home. This software is best for pre-recording content and can be manually configured by you to include multiple inputs such as: audio from microphones, screen capture, and any video cameras connected.
3. The Panopto Capture - this tool is not actually software but rather a web based version that can record on any device running the browser that has at least a microphone attached. The setup is done manually by specifying what you want to include in the recording for audio, screen and video feed available to the computer/device you are on.
4. The Mobile App - allows you to view video, record and manage video direct from your mobile device.

Downloading and updating Desktop Recorder software
- For a networked work computer (Windows PC) go to your windows start button for all programs and find VUW software centre. Here you can select Panopto Recorder. This will download the latest version onto your machine. If you already have the software loaded it update to the latest version retaining all your settings and links to any recordings already made.
